Dr. Sara Mayes is a Seattle native with degrees from both the University of Washington and Washington State University. After living in Idaho for 7 years and working in a combined emergency and mixed animal practice, she returned to the Pacific Northwest to be closer to family. After spending a decade in the role of Medical Director and then several years working as an Urgent Care Veterinarian, she chose to step back into the role of general practice veterinarian and focus on preventative medicine. Dr. Mayes enjoys internal medicine cases and the challenge of figuring out how to help sick pets. In addition to working full time as a Veterinarian, she runs a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue that specializes in large, pet snakes. Through her rescue work, she regularly teaches for King County Animal Control and at the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She has a huge number of pets at home, including 8 dogs, two cats, some goats, geese, ducks, and several reptiles. Her hobbies include road cycling and mountain biking, snow skiing, and camping, although her work as a Veterinarian and running an animal rescue takes up most of her time! She joined Mountain View Animal Hospital in 2024 and hopes to remain here in Snohomish for the rest of her career.
